monsters came in the night time.

It was such a beautiful day
That blinking red light on my white blackberry
I knew it was you
I walked the distance so we could meet half way
We’re just friends but I still hoped that I looked kinda okay.

We talked about my favourite things;

Jesus
Fellowship
Friendship
Church
Quiet Time
Shopping – what a beautiful woolen hat that was.

We had a lovely dinner
We didn’t stop talking
I kept bringing up Switzerland
I wondered a little, if I’d ever see it with you
I let that thought go.

I don’t eat animals
i love basil pesto – I don’t think you were impressed
you ate Spaghetti and livers – I was not impressed

You were a gentleman
You held my hand when we crossed the road
I leaned on your shoulder while we watched the movie – prometheus
I told you about the one I used to love
How we broke each others hearts
How sad I was to lose his friendship

I felt happy and warm
I treasured our friendship all the more
Then I said – tell me when you get home

But monsters came and took you away – So you couldn’t call to say you’re safe
I imagined you under a bridge exposed, cold or worse
In a soundproof room hungry, crying out – dark
I kept asking; has anyone seen him
I kept praying/begging; show me where he is
My heart deflated, my feet rooted with helplessness – where do you start looking?

It was dark, it was late, I should not have let you walk me home
It was dark, it was late, I should have waited for the taxi to arrive and see you get in it
if only…
why didn’t I…
Stupid me for not…

above all else, where are you
monsters came in the night time and took you away

Then we found you!
The relief…!
I’m speaking to you
I’m looking at you
I’m hearing your words
monsters had you for a night
You are still you
You are still whole
You are still beautiful
He still holds you in His hands

Always
His scarlet liquid burnt them away
His grace a never ending stream pouring itself out on you
You are found
You are saved
You are pure
Be not ashamed
You are loved

Powerful words! The Lords grace is always sufficient.

    2 Corinthians 12:9

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
